118
metres. Any answer above 110m and below 120m will probably
do. Note that the 121m spot height is just the other
side of the contour.
Also note that the thicker contour lines are drawn every
50 metres and the 100-metre contour line can be seen
just west of Goring Heath.

41
metres. There is a spot height just to the west of the
bridge on the bank of the river. That might mean that
the bridge is slightly higher than 41m, say about 45m. |

.it
is too steep for a bike with no brakes. You can tell
that because the contours are very close together.
There is also an arrow across the road, which shows
a slope of between 1 in 5 and 1 in 7. |

Wood.
Note that there is a public house here too, but
Brian
would not be advised to go in there. He seems foolish
enough, without going drinking. |

Minor
road. Note that you could also have a mark for
the public house. |

2
km.
You could measure this distance using a piece
of thread placed along the road on the map,
and then measured against the scale at the bottom.
I estimated the distance. The road runs across
two grid squares, each of which represents 1km
distance. Measuring the distance more precisely
gives 2.2km. |
